Did you know about the Medicines Committee?

The RCPCH actively strives to improve medicines safety and influence medication standards nationally. In the coming months the committee will work with education colleagues to redefine the Medicines Safety strategy so it can deliver the training required to future paediatricians.

The RCPCH hosts a Medicines Committee partnered with NPPG with membership from RPS, MHRA, ABPI amongst other. The committee are working policies and statements in the following key areas;

As ever, we would like to ask you to share with the Meds IQ community your own improvement work by submitting your project abstract or tool description here (‘submit a resource’ at the bottom of the homepage).

All the new projects and tools published in the lead-up to QI Central launch will receive special promotion, as part of the launch!

Medicines for Children producing a medicines management app for parents and carers

Last month the Medicines for Children project was awarded £50,000 from Comic Relief’s ‘Tech for Good’ programme. This programme offers funding and training days to support the MfC team to develop a medicines management app for parents and carers. Following a period of consultation with parents and carers, the app is on track to be launched at the RCPCH conference in May 2019.

 

QI Central – a new, QI online hub at RCPCH coming this autumn!

We have a few updates for you this autumn, starting with the most exciting piece of news: in November 2018, Meds IQ will become a part of a larger family of quality improvement resources on a new website called QI Central! Apart from Meds IQ, the new site will host the following topic sites: Patient Safety, Processes of Care and Patient Engagement.

 

Upcoming course: Safe and effective prescribing for you and your team

Improve your knowledge and skills with our course on Safe Prescribing. Including sessions on the 'START assessment', 'demystifying prescribing for neonates' and 'common prescribing mistakes'. 

This one-day course explores safe prescribing within paediatrics. You will learn about the most frequent prescribing mistakes and their management, as well as, review basic pharmacology.
